Let me thank you one more time for the possibility to participate in The Global Eco Asia-Pacific Tourism Conference 2019 and introduce Ayurveda, Indian traditional medicine and philosophy and speak about the role of authentic local storytelling in global context of sustainable tourism.

It was truly inspiring and openminded trip for me during which I have not only changed my perception of Australia as an ecotourism destination, but also discovered new way how the ayurveda and all similar ancient traditional holistic systems based on natural sources, indigenous wisdom and heritage, could play role in modern way of traveling.

The Global Eco Asia-Pacific Tourism Conference 2019 marks for me also begging of cooperation with inspiring and innovative Australian touroperators such as Women’s Fitness Adventures, founded by Yvonne Shepherd, with which we are already planning first joint ventures in India!

I had the pleasure to attend the Global Eco Conference twice in recent years, each time being worth the trip. There are many take home messages from the conference, especially around eco sustainability in tourism practice, with the biggest highlights being hearing from international speakers. Learning about best practice eco-tourism models and latest trends from around the globe is game changing. The conference also presents a variety of speakers from all sectors, government, private enterprise, organisations – so the audience can grasp the bigger picture. Always great venues and very well organised.

– Anna del Rio, Manager Economic Development and Tourism, Shire of Ashburton

The 2019 conference was another excellent opportunity to share experiences with a diverse group of like-minded professionals, tourism operators and government decision-makers from all over the region. I’ve found the conference to be very informative and well organised ever year, with many opportunities for networking and building professional relationships. I found it so worthwhile in the past that I even stopped in to attend mid-way through moving continents. I’d recommend you come with just a regular suitcase, but the event is a definite must for anyone working in or interested in the ecotourism industry.

– Louise Custance, VIDA Landscape Architects & Planners

First time attendee and my expectations were exceeded. It was enjoyable to enjoy a tourism focused conference rather than an education one. Choice of keynote speakers was relevant to me and very informative content presented in an interesting way.

– 2019 Delegate

The conference was very well organised and logistics were great. All the chairs kept to time and speakers were interesting - including having overseas examples. My highlights were including PA managers including Dave Wachenfeld and having the heads of agencies panel. The inspiring speakers (Michael and Darren) were a really nice interesting touch.

– 2018 Delegate

All of the presenters were well prepared and very passionate which created a great atmosphere throughout the presentations. Option 2 - Destination Development and Marketing of Day 3 was a stand out for me, due to the relevance of the content and the knowledge of the industry of the presenters

– 2018 Delegate

As an Australian consultant specializing in nature based tourism planning and based in Central America, I found the conference a great platform for learning about what is happening in Ecotourism in the Asia-Pacific region. It was also a great opportunity to meet other practitioners, operators and professionals in the industry as well as share our team’s experience. In addition, I really enjoyed learning more about tourism in South Australia and Adelaide through the presentations as well as exploring the region post-conference. The selection and diversity of the speakers and material presented was impressive and the organization world class. Our team will be making an effort to attend regularly.

The 2017 Global Eco Asia-Pacific Conference held in Adelaide shared the inspiring stories and ideas of those creating a better world through ecotourism, both internationally and here in Australia, and from small businesses to well-funded large scale programs.

The conference, as always, simulated new ideas, provided support for all of us on our individual ecotourism journeys, and motivated us all to achieve more profound changes.

The venue at the Adelaide Zoo was perfect! It offered the opportunity for us all to to share in the aim, achievements, animals, and challenges of the zoo, and understand the amazing positions in their interpretation team - jobs that we only dreamed of when ecotourism was first becoming a reality in Australia!

– Dr Noreen Breakey, UQ Business School, The University of Queensland

The Global Eco Conference was a very special experience, first of all of course because of the very unique and beautiful location: Rottnest Island and the island authorities were a perfect host - I wish I would have had more time to explore this eco-friendly jewel by the provided bicycle! The conference was a full success due to its professional set-up and the very interesting sessions. I had a lot of important discussions and am thankful for the opportunity to meet so many truly engaged people in one place!

– Rika Jean-François, Commissioner ITB Corporate Social Responsibility Competence Centre Travel & Logistics ITB Berlin, 2015

The Global Eco Asia-Pacific Conference on Rottnest Island was a great experience. Not only was the island setting ideal to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, but having the conference venue under a tented marquee instead of inside a formal conference venue, added to the experience in line with the subject matter being presented. The presentations were all interesting and highly topical, and limiting them to short sessions gave the opportunity to add variety to each day, and somehow enhanced the interaction of the delegates, especially during the casual meal and coffee breaks. Well done all for a great conference!

– Bruce See, Cometcorp, South Africa, 2015

The inspirational location on Rottnest Island, and the truly inspiring and engaging speakers made for a great Global Eco Conference. Christmas Island was honoured and delighted to be part of such a quality program - thank you.

– Linda Cash, Marketing Manager, Christmas Island Tourism Association, Australia 2015

As Eco conferences go, you are not going to beat Global Eco for diverse and inspiring presentations, interesting and actionable insights, and valuable networking opportunities. Global Eco at Rottnest Island was one of the best organised conferences I have attended.

– Bruce Bromley, Chief Financial Officer, Soneva Group, Thailand 2015

– Dr Young Ng, Chairman Association for Geoconservation Hong Kong 2015

Global Eco Asia-Pacific Conference has always sent a high benchmark with great contents. It is getting better each year and very innovative even as the industry is being disrupted by global trends whether it is environment or technology. This is why it has been running successfully for 23 years.

– Albert Teo, Founder Borneo Ecotours, Malaysia 2015

Has it really been 23 years? It’s hard to top yearly sharing of best practices but Global Eco 2015 really showed how the tipping point for responsible tourism is so close- there is no longer business as usual. It was great to see how the sector is taking inspiration from other industries to constantly raise the bar and deliver on real value which in the end, every customer is looking for

– Patricia Gallardo-Dwyer, Founder and Director The Purpose Business, Hong Kong 2015

Hello and thank you for making us all feel welcome. I guess coming to a conference that we had no previous experience with, we all where some what apprehensive. At the end of the 3 days, Robyn, myself and the others came away very satisfied. Great location, well catered for and really friendly. We networked well and gained some good insights. We hope to be invited next year. Well done to you all.

Thank you…For your invitation, support, positive energy and friendship over the past week. The conference exceeded my expectations by a considerable margin and I look forward to seeing it become ever more international in the coming years. I cannot think when I ever attended 3 days of conference without feeling bored or tired of proceedings at some point. This was an exception – I was riveted by every session from 9 to 5!

– Mark Witney - Director, Singita Game Reserves

I just wanted to send you a note to say thanks for a great conference – I think the Global Eco conference was excellent; and probably one of/or the best ‘tourism’ conferences I’ve ever attended, mainly because it provided such a wide variety of topics and speakers. Well done! The conference provided a lot of good content/contacts and research for my projects/publication as well

– Melanie Grevis-James - Banksia Marketing
