This will be Ecotourism Australia’s 26th Annual Conference and it’s a pleasure to be holding the event in Townsville, Queensland. Queensland has always been a leading ecotourism destination, and Townsville has a proud history of leading actions in sustainability. Flanked on the east by the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics to the north, Townsville is headquarters of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and an excellent location for us to focus on reef ecotourism management in this, the International Year of the Reef.
Government across all levels and Industry have come together to support this year’s conference and this spirit of partnership epitomises the elements that stand ecotourism apart.
With over 50% repeat delegates, the conference has become Australia’s premier meeting point for the industry where operators, government, academics and protected area managers get together to re-energise, share and connect. As usual there will be a strong international component with insightful speakers and well-informed delegates to add to the experience.
We look forward to seeing you at Ecotourism Australia’s Global Eco Asia-Pacific Tourism Conference, Townsville 26–28 November, 2018.
